QUESTION POSED ON: 25 March 2005
I want to patch my workstations (NT 4.0 and Windows 2000) with new patches. I am slightly newer to the batch file creation and running. Do you have any ideas how to write the batch file for this purpose? Kindly let me know if you have a ready-made reference file for this.

EXPERT RESPONSE
I would recommend investigating Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI) and Windows Scripting Host (WSH). Both of these tools/interfaces provide much more functionality than typical batch files. Each can be used (to varying levels on different platforms) to facilitate administrative tasks, including patch application and checking.
