QUESTION POSED ON: 08 September 2006
I am receiving a virus called drstartloader.exe. I received it through IM from someone else which in turn is sending itself to everyone on my list. Have you encountered something like this before and, if so, do you know how to remove it?

EXPERT RESPONSE
Did your local antivirus software detect it? Have you done a full system scan and made sure you have the latest Windows patches and IM software? Definitely try more than one of the malware removal tools (including the rootkit tools) I listed in my malware removal handbook to make sure your system is clean.
