Desktop Management Suite v7, a software as a service product from Triactive Inc., automatically updates computer networks. It also identifies unpatched machines and brings them up to date and can remotely identify and fix network problems.
Desktop Management Suite v7 automatically ensures new patches are distributed in the network, while it identifies missing patches, then installs those that are needed. IT managers can elect to have the patches automatically installed or choose to approve and test them first.
Triactive Inc. also put remote diagnosis and repair of network problems into this management suite as well as a very detailed network inventory system for all hardware and software. The inventory feature helps companies calculate savings based on actual licenses bought and used. It also provides a very detailed analysis of which portions of an application are actually used, which can mean significant savings for companies. And there is an automated help desk incident management service included.
There are a number of reports available, including risk assessment, which quickly shows which machines are at high, medium and low risks, as well as reports on systems missing antivirus, antispyware and any missing critical Microsoft patches.
Desktop Management Suite v7 includes these new features:
Web-based, remote control diagnosis of network and end-user issues, including boot-up problems. IT managers can diagnose and make repairs for employees on the road.
Detailed inventory of all software and hardware, including numbers of licenses bought and actually used as well as which software versions are being used. For example, if there are 500 Microsoft Office Professional programs in use, with half of those users only using features that are found in Office Standard, that would allow a company to decrease the software level and expense for those users.
A newly designed user interface that is a lot faster than previous versions.
System requirements: None needed as this is a software as a service offering.
Pricing: From $4 to less than 20 cents per node per month, depending on the length of contract, payment option and other factors.
