Core Impact, a software product, employs attacker methodologies to identify vulnerabilities. This allows users to determine their exposure as well as whether their current security investments successfully detect and prevent attacks.
With Core Impact v7, Core Security Technologies introduces the Client-Side Rapid Penetration Test (RPT), the first fully automated way to test both the security of end-user applications and the effectiveness of end-user security training initiatives. Core Impact v7 enables security professionals at all skill levels to test endpoint systems, as well as end users and end-user applications (such as Web browsers, mail readers, instant messaging programs, media players and business applications) through a single, automated product. This latest version of Core Impact provides for safe testing of client-side vulnerabilities, Trojan horses and other malware threats and email-borne social engineering attacks, such as phishing, spear phishing and spam.
Core Impact 7 couples the ability to test end users and their applications with the ability to test network servers and services and thereby assess the effectiveness of existing and proposed security defenses.
The Client-Side RPT methodology is implemented with easy-to-use wizards. Client-Side Penetration Test Reports help security professionals identify and display gaps in their end-user security awareness training.
A re-architected version of Core Security's agent technology is a multithreaded enterprise-class agent that is deployed on demand and runs in memory by default to protect the integrity of a tested system. It also has an encrypted and authenticated channel with the testing machine, an extensible plug-in architecture (for use in network packet injection and packet-capture capabilities). It is configured to persist across system reboots for tests that span multiple days. The new consolidated agent also has enhancements for network RPT pivoting.
